Overview 2026 – IDEaS Space and Rocketry Ideation Session

The Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program of the Department of National Defence (DND) is hosting an IDEaS Space and Rocketry Ideation Session, which will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 12:00 to 17:00, at:

This event aims to bring together the regional space and rocketry sector to participate in an ideation session to support the next phase of the IDEaS Launch North Challenge, which seeks to advance Canada’s sovereign access to space. This dedicated session will focus on:

Stream 2: Medium Lift Capability (10‑year horizon)

  • A longer-term innovation stream aimed at developing 4,000 kg‑class launch capacity through industry‑led innovation networks.
    This stream will help strengthen Canada’s national industrial base by maturing critical technologies and building sustainable launch capabilities over the next decade.
